Along with Spanish and French influence, there is a number of Italian dishes that made it to the islands of the Philippines. Here is an example of one. Serves 6 to 8.
12 oz ziti
2 lbs ground beef
One 28 oz spaghetti sauce
One 15 oz container ricotta cheese
2 ½ cups mozzarella cheese, shredded
½ cup parmesan cheese, grated
In a large pot, bring water to boil and cook ziti al dente (firm but not hard). While your pasta’s cooking, cook beef in a skillet through (get the pink out). Drain and stir in spaghetti sauce.
In a large bowl, combine the eggs, ricotta cheese, 1 ½ cups mozzarella cheese and parmesan cheese. Combine in cooked pasta and toss.
Preheat oven to 350 degrees F.
In a 9 x 13 inch baking dish, spoon in a third of the meat sauce and top with half of the pasta mixture. Repeat, layer and top off with meat sauce. Cover and bake for 40 minutes. Uncover and sprinkle remaining mozzarella cheese. Bake again until cheese is melted. Let cool before serving.
