Filipino Palitaw Recipe

Palitaw is sticky rice, dropped in boiling water, dipped in coconut and eaten with a sugar-sesame sauce. Flat, sweet and yummy. Serves 4 to 6.


  • ½ Coconut Flakes
  • ¼ cup sesame seeds
  • ¾ cup water
  • 1 ½ cups of white sugar
  • 1 cup of sweet rice flour

Cooking Directions

  1. In a small bowl, combine sugar, coconut flakes and sesame seeds. Set aside.
  2. In a medium bowl, combine the flour and water to form dough. Roll the dough into little balls.
  3. In a medium saucepan of boiling water, drop the balls in. When they’re done cooking they’ll rise to the top. Place on a paper towel to cool.
  4. Roll the cooked balls into the sugar-coconut-sesame mix. Eat!
